Are you looking for an ophthalmologist Wolverine MI?
The village of Wolverine, Michigan is located in Northern Michigan where residents enjoy a great quality of life with wonderful recreational opportunities, beautiful countryside, rolling hills, farmland and tranquil atmosphere. In recent years there has been tremendous growth in housing, real estate and business development leading to a thriving downtown area with its unique shops and restaurants. Wolverine was originally founded by a man named George Richards who named it Torrey. He settled his homestead near Weber Lake and walked once a week into Gaylord to pick up his mail. That was a two day journey back then as he followed a path the led around Silver Lake. In 1880 he wrote to the postmaster and requested a Post be installed in Sturgeon City and within a month, his request was granted and George became the first postmaster of what became Wolverine. George Richards went on to become a real estate dealer, land and timer broker, and an elected representative. He was also responsible for developing the school system where he served as a member of the board for over 15 years. Much of his family remained in the area and his great granddaughter, Sue VandenHoek, retired as a teacher in the Wolverine School district in 2010.
